GURO21 (Gearing Up Responsible and Outstanding Teachers in Southeast Asia for the 21st Century) is a menu of flexible learning courses designed to enhance the capabilities of Southeast Asian teachers in addressing the teaching-learning requirements of the 21st century. The courses under the GURO21 program are based on a Competency Framework for Southeast Asian Teachers developed and validated by teachers, education experts, practitioners, and other stakeholders including the Parents and Teachers Organizations’ representatives from the eleven (11) Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) member states.
For the first round of course offerings under the GURO 21 Program, SEAMEO INNOTECH has developed the following two short courses, namely:
GURO21 Course 1: Facilitating the Development of 21st Century Skills for Southeast Asian Teachers
GURO21 Course 2: Developing Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)
Each of these courses is composed of two (2) flexible learning modules with discussions and activities which will be spread in a four-week timeframe.
Course 1 covers the following modules:
MODULE 1: Equipping Teachers with Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Values for the 21st Century; and
MODULE 2: Facilitating 21st Century Learning.
Meanwhile, the modules for Course 2 are:
MODULE 1 : Developing Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in Teachers; and
MODULE 2 : Developing Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in Learners
The GURO 21 Course 1 is considered a foundation course for the series of GURO 21 courses. Accordingly, it is strongly recommended that teachers successfully complete the GURO21 Course 1 before proceeding to take the other GURO21 courses.
